Our 2010 end-of-the-year fundraiser has a very specific goal in mind:
Send Sean to the north of Russia this winter!
Please help by clicking the icon below.
We need $2000 to lay the groundwork to work with our friends, Iguan Dance, in St Petersburg in 2011. Our goal is to raise this amount by January 1!
“There is the city where you arrive for the first time; and there is another city whcih you leave never to return.”
— Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities
A little history:
In 2006 as part of Link Vostok’s International Festival of Dance and Movement on the Volga, Skewed Visions met the members of the St Petersburg experimental dance group, Iguan Dance in Yaroslavl.
After discovering points of shared interest around the use of objects in performance, Skewed Visions brought Iguan to Minneapolis in 2008 for a workshop and showing at the Bryant-Lake Bowl with help from Link Vostok and the University of Minnesota.
Now with the facilitation of Link Vostok, Skewed Visions is planning to continue this provocative relationship with a residency in St Petersburg, Russia in 2011. We will be working on our growing shared performance practices on a new piece inspired by Italo Calvino’s fascinating Invisible Cities.
We are applying for funding for the fall 2011 residency, but need help in getting Sean to St Petersburg this winter to lay the initial groundwork.
